A stellar line up of industry influencers has been assembled for ‘The Pop Up Academy’, a unique knowledge experience which will be part of Food & Bev Live at Citywest, Dublin on 6th and 7th February 2018.
The Pop-Up Academy, organised by Hospitalityenews, comprises a series of talks and discussions covering a portfolio of subjects which are of vital importance to hospitality industry practitioners.

Frank Corr

Frank Corr is an author, journalist and editor and publishes www.hospitalityenews.com, a news website for the Irish hospitality industry.
His ten books published to-date includes histories, biographies and a novel and he has specialised in writing about the Irish Hospitality Industry.

Anke HartmannAnke Hartmann is one of Ireland’s leading Sommeliers. Originally from Dresden, Germany she became a chef in a small Relais & Chateau Hotel. She worked in Michelin Star kitchens over six years in Germany, Switzerland and England Chewton Glen gave her the opportunity of becoming a Sommelier. The journey took her to a two Michelin star restaurant in Switzerland, to help setting up the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, winning a second Michelin star in Frankfurt Germany, managing Drury Buildings and now as an Operations Manager in the Press Up Group. She also conducts WSET 1-3 Level in the Dublin Bar Academy in Smithfield. |
Micheline Corr
Micheline Corr is co-founder of The Firm Recruitment Company and has worked in Hospitality Recruitment for almost two decades and hired people into thousands of jobs.
Working with a wide range of businesses, Micheline and her team select top talent for all aspects of Management, Sales, Events and Culinary roles within hotels, venues, restaurants and corporate catering. Her own hospitality career began in front office, and she has a huge passion for people and finding the right match for each job or start up business. Micheline is an active member of many organisations including the IHI, IASI, SITE and a believer in continuous learning. A graduate of the Institute of Employment Consultants, she has also completed a Leadership Course with IBEC. |
Mary Hal
Mary Hall is managing director of Hallmark Training which provides specialised training services to the hospitality sector. Her distinguished career includes roles in accommodation management, many years as a specialist trainer with CERT and Fáilte Ireland, roles in management development with Cornell University and consultancy projects overseas. She is a founder member and past president of the Irish Accommodation Services Institute. |
Oonagh Cremins
Oonagh Cremins founded The Innovate Room in 2011. Harnessing her impressive knowledge in all things commercial, Oonagh has assisted countless organisations in Business turnaround and in cultivating commercial awareness. Leading teams from both organisational and stakeholder levels to generate greater revenues in their business are the cornerstone of her work. Deirdre McDonnell
Deirdre McDonald is a hospitality professional with 25 years industry experience. Her business strengths include operations and front office management, social media marketing, content marketing and online reputation management. Deirdre works with a wide portfolio of clients assisting them to bring their brand to life online. She is most passionate about service excellence and building successful brands in the hotel industry through customer service and dedication to exacting standards. Oliver Cruise
Oliver completed an undergraduate degree in Business and Management in DIT Aungier Street, before continuing on to do a one year post graduate degree in Accounting also in DIT. After his five year stint in college, Oliver moved on in the world of Accounting and worked in a receivership company then called Farrell Grant Sparks (FGS).
Oliver constantly had his foot in the hospitality game, through working weekends during college and in the five years after he qualified. The idea of setting up his own business then began to get relatively serious and coffee seemed like the best option in terms of what he wanted to achieve weighted up against the initial investment. At Dublin Coffee Festival Oliver met his business partner and along with his brother created Network Cafe. Network has evolved since that first meeting in September 2015 and has successfully established a very well respected brand and has managed to stand out in what is a very competitive market. Hospitality holds a main focus at Network, constantly trying to build relationships with customers which they feel gives a competitive advantage over competitors. |
Brian Beattie
A chef with more than 30 years’ experience, before setting up The Caterers 20 years ago Brian worked in high profile restaurants such as L’Ecrivain, Chapter One, Guilbaulds, Thorntons.
Brian is responsible for the Logistics and Food Activities of our Catering operation as well as our three cafés and multiple venues. Brian’s background ensures that he is quality driven and margin aware at all times. Tara BeattieTara’s background in Statistics and ERP Software Support has enabled her to manage all the administration and finance of the business over the last twenty years. Tara is also responsible for Business Development and ensures that all the systems support Brian and his team in ensuring that events, venues and café are run smoothly.

Martina FloodMartina is the Head of Operations of Sports, Leisure and Hospitality at the Compass Group Ireland.
Martina has almost 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Before joining Compass Group Ireland in 2010 she carved out a career within the hotel industry in roles from Restaurant Manager to General Manager. Since joining Compass, Martina has successfully mobilised and overseen the food and beverage operation at Aviva Stadium, serving up to 3,000 hospitality guests and 48,000 punters on match and concert days. Moving to London in 2014 for two years Martina became Regional General Manager for Jockey Club Catering overseeing operations at Kempton Park, Sandown Park and Epsom Downs Racecourses. Returning to Ireland in 2016 Martina became Head of Operations with Compass Group continuing to oversee Aviva Stadium but more recently mobilised and is overseeing Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Martina was the recipient of the IHI Hospitality Manager of the Year in 2011 and has led her teams to winning the Best Event Caterer at the Event Industry Awards on no less than 4 occasions. Martina knows exactly how to execute large scale, spectacular events – constantly looking at new ways to innovate in order to deliver exceptional customer service. |
Ruth HegartyRuth Hegarty is owner of egg&chicken food projects & consulting, a specialised agency working in the areas of food & farming business & policy, and Head of Chef Network, Ireland’s professional network for chefs, which was established by IFSA (the Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance) in February 2016. She is also part of the organising team for Food on the Edge, a ground-breaking annual symposium for chefs that takes place in Galway, Ireland each October.
Formerly Secretary-General of Euro-Toques Ireland, the European Community of Chefs, for 11 years, she holds a Masters in European Economic & Public Affairs from UCD with a thesis on ‘European Food Quality Policy: Protecting Europe’s Traditional and Speciality Food’. Ruth is a member of the TASTE Council of Ireland |
Eoghan O'Mara WalshEoghan has had a varied career in tourism having previously managed; O’Mara Travel Ltd, a leading tour operator; Heritage Island Ltd, a marketing company for visitor attractions; and O’Mara Consultancy Ltd, a tourism consultancy business. In his earlier career he was Procurement Executive with Diageo in London and Dublin. Eoghan has been CEO of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) since September 2015.
